The Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, and Philadelphia Eagles all lost key players to injuries in Week 1.
Cardinals All-Pro running back David Johnson, Bears wide receiver Kevin White and linebacker Jerrell Freeman, Texans tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz, and Eagles kicker Caleb Sturgis were all placed on injured reserve on Tuesday.
Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson – Dislocated Wrist
Johnson was officially placed on injured reserve with a dislocated wrist on Tuesday after seeking a second medical opinion, the team announced.
The Cardinals re-signed veteran running back Chris Johnson and also signed running back D.J. Foster of the New England Patriots practice squad.
NFL teams are now allowed to bring two players back from IR in 2017, but players must sit out six weeks before returning to practice and eight weeks before returning to games.
“Johnson’s wrist surgery has an 8-to-12 week timetable,” according to the team.

Chicago Bears WR Kevin White, LB Jerrell Freeman – Fractured Scapula/Pectoral Injury, Concussion
Bears head coach John Fox confirmed Monday that White fractured his scapula in the team’s Week 1 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and the team placed him on IR Tuesday.
The former first-round pick out of West Virginia played in just four games in his first two seasons in the league.
The Bears also placed starting inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman on IR due to a concussion and a pectoral injury, the team announced. The 6-foot, 235-pound veteran linebacker recorded 110 tackles and seven tackles for a loss in 12 games last season.
Houston Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz – Concussion
All three of the Texans’ tight ends suffered concussions in Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Fiedorowicz suffered his second concussion since the start of the preseason.
The Texans officially placed Fiedorowicz on IR Tuesday and activated wide receiver Jaelen Strong off their reserve/suspended list.
Houston’s front office rewarded Fiedorowicz with a three-year extension worth $21.5 million ahead of the regular season. The former third-round pick out of Iowa recorded career-highs in receptions (54), receiving yards (559), and touchdowns (4) last season.
The Texans are expected to promote rookie tight end Evan Baylis off the practice squad ahead of Thursday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
Philadelphia Eagles K Caleb Sturgis – Hip Injury
The Eagles placed Sturgis on IR with a hip injury and signed kicker Jake Elliott off the Bengals practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.
Sturgis connected on 85.4 percent of his field goal attempts last season.
